
It’s spring and you know what that means…Plains Art Museum’s annual Spring Gala is right around the corner! Join the Museum on Saturday, May 3, as we celebrate the genius of Rodin: A Magnificent Obsession Sculpture from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation. Bid on a record-breaking 91 pieces of art created by some of the region’s most talented artists. The wide range of media and prices means there is truly something for everybody at this year’s auction. Auction proceeds help fund the Museum’s educational programming.
The auction preview is now online. The auction gallery at the Museum opens Monday, April 28. Bidding will take place at the Museum, Saturday, May 3, from 7-10 p.m.
Enter GalleryFargo native Matt Mastrud is a graphic designer and artist whose work has been seen around the country. His clients have included Microsoft, the NDSU Athletic Department, the University of Northern Iowa, the rock band Drive-By Truckers, as well as many illustrations and gig posters for many musicians. Matt’s work has been published in The Art of Modern Rock, Rockin’ Down the Highway, and The Art of Electric Frankenstein. His work explores the prairie landscapes as well as the edgy subcultures of alternative rock and roll music.

Innovation and Change: Great Ceramics from the ASU Art Museum Collection highlights seventy-five masterworks by many of the leading international artists of our time, offering a panoramic survey of the potential of clay as an expressive art form. The objects on view range from functional ware for everyday use to more expressive sculptural forms. The exhibition features works by such prominent artists as Rudy Autio, Hans Coper, Rick Dillingham, Ken Ferguson, Shoji Hamada, Ewen Henderson, Asger Jorn, Karen Karnes, Bernard Leach, Michael Lucero, Maria Martinez, Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Lucie Rie, Edwin Scheier, Angus Suttie, Toshiko Takaezu, Akio Takamori, Peter Voulkos, Kurt Weiser, and Betty Woodman, to name just a few.

Art on the Plains presents the work of both established and emerging visual artists from the region served by the Museum: North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, and Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada.
