Wes Cowan is the founder and owner of Cowan’s Auctions, Inc. but, you will more readily recognize him as a featured appraiser on Public Broadcasting’s acclaimed TV series, Antiques Roadshow, and as the star of the PBS series History Detectives. Cowan is an internationally recognized expert in Historic Americana and is the featured appraiser for this year’s Trash or Treasure series of events.
He will be joined by his colleague Danica M. Farnand who specializes in American Indian Art. Explore the ways you can get to know Wes and Danica at Trash or Treasure events—whether getting a personal verbal fair market evaluation at the Wes Cowan VIP Appraisal Dinner, at the Appraisal Fair, or at his lecture.
Shabby-chic decorators and yard sale junkies will find unbelievable treasures from the attics and cellars of our staff, volunteers, members, and community at garage sale prices.

Bring up to three items per person for a verbal fair market valuation by Wes Cowan and Danica M. Farnand of Cowan’s Auctions, Inc. Note-taking is encouraged. Bring your furniture (images sufficient), silver, porcelains, glass, paintings, prints, lithographs, old photos, books, manuscripts, posters, sports memorabilia, autographs, bronzes, sculptures, decorative arts and works, and Oriental carpets.
Do not bring Nazi memorabilia, weapons or clothing.

We need your attic and cellar treasures for our Garage Sale, part of the Trash or Treasure series of events.
The Garage Sale will be held Saturday and Sunday October 11 and 12 on the third floor of the Museum.
Shabby-chic decorators and yard sale aficionados are sure to find hidden treasures!

Drop off your donations at the Museum’s east entrance, 704 1st Ave N in Fargo, during Museum hours through October 4. Drop off hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
If you have a large item you may call ahead to 701.232.3821, ext. 101 to access the loading dock at the southwest corner of the Museum. Note: Large items may only be dropped off Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Donation receipts for tax purposes will be available at the time of drop-off.
Items in good condition will be accepted. Suggestions for donations of items include:
