Create, Fabricate, and Donate

Plains Art Museum has created an art program through which eight community organizations, clubs, trade associations, etc. can come to the Museum to create art projects that will benefit eight worthy social agencies. The resulting art projects will help these agencies fulfill their missions, as the materials used in the projects will be items they need. Construction of the art projects will be a fun, social event for all those involved. Not only will worthy organizations benefit, but the fun of making art and seeing the development of artistic ideas will be realized. After the projects are made, they will be on display at the Museum. Following the exhibition, the projects will be dismantled and the items donated to the recipient agencies.

For example:
Make your sculpture out of pet food in the shape of an animal to donate to an area animal organization, OR make your sculpture out of hygiene items in the shape of a giant toothbrush for a local shelter.

Project Criteria

The Community Art Project is open to all community organizations, clubs, trade associations, etc. in the Fargo- Moorhead metropolitan area.

The builder organizations are responsible for partnering with recipient agencies and for soliciting all donated items and building materials.

Sculptures should be constructed from materials that can be reused by the recipient agencies. Additional materials for support, construction, and aesthetics are encouraged. No toxic chemicals or sharp objects. All materials subject to Museum approval.

Each exhibit area measures 20 (W) x 20 (L) x 15 (H) feet and each project should be constructed to fit in that area.

All participants authorize permission for the Museum to photographically and electronically reproduce the projects for the purpose of education, publications, and publicity. All published works will be credited to the creating organization.

The Museum’s professionally trained staff is available to assist with and advise on all aspects of the projects.
